The Kessler Crane “Hercules 2.0” Head has been an impressive addition to my gear list. I choose this head for its super secure mounting features. When used with my tripod, mounting the Kessler Cineslider and or Pocket Jib is a joy. Having one dependable head for rigging certainly makes field work more simplified. I’ve used this head for vertical time-lapse work, heavily weighted jib shots and basic all-around rigging. After locked into place, the head keeps my equipment stable and consistent.
I recently shot a four hour astro time-lapse for a project in eastern Long Island for Newsday. Working through the night, shooting several hundred photos with 30sec exposures, the last thing you want is your head to move. Prior to owning, I would use two light-stands or a cheap tripod. I found that my rail would move during my shoot and I had a lot less control. Although the Hercules Head is a more expensive investment, its far easier to mount your equipment. Most important, it consistently performs while gathering b-roll on assignment.
